About our farm

Pergard has a history dating back to the 1600s and is idyllically located along the shoreline. It is one of the main farms at Sætre in Dalsfjord and has been operated in various ways throughout the generations.

Historically, Pergard has primarily focused on sheep farming, along with some cattle and horses. Tourism has also been an important part of the farm’s history, something we are now excited to revive.

At present, the farm is home to a small flock of Old Norwegian sheep, a few chickens, the people who live here, and of course, the farm cat.

Our guesthouse, originally built in 1940, has been lovingly renovated to honor its history while bringing a fresh, modern twist. Inspired by mid-century modern design, we’ve embraced colorful walls and playful wallpapers to create a vibrant, welcoming atmosphere, while ensuring all the comforts of contemporary living.

The house is a place where history, style, and comfort come together, offering a unique and memorable retreat for every guest.

The house features two spacious bedrooms, a bright open living area with a fully equipped kitchen, and a brand-new bathroom—perfect for relaxing after a day of adventures.

Whether you’re looking for quiet moments indoors or active days exploring the countryside, our guesthouse offers the perfect base for a memorable stay.

Welcome!

About our guesthouse

About us

We are Pernille and Andreas and in 2023 we quite spontaneously bought Pergard. At the time we had no plans of becoming farmers, but after many years of apartment living in the city we found ourselves longing for fjords, mountains, and a slower pace of life. When this little gem became available we decided immediately. In fact, we didn’t even attend a viewing!

It didn’t take long before we welcomed a cat and then a few chickens to the farm, followed by some sheep. We haven’t regretted it for a second. Our dream now is to live more from and with the farm and to create a place where others can come and experience the same sense of calm and connection that we feel every day.

Andreas is trained as an electrical engineer and works mostly from home. In addition he creates art and music, and you will most likely spot some of his artwork displayed in the guesthouse. Pernille is a public health nurse, primarily working with health-promoting initiatives in primary schools.

Our favorite place is the bench in the sheep pasture, preferably with a cup of coffee in hand. Over the past year, we have spent most of our spare time renovating “Buda”, the guesthouse , which will soon be open to anyone who also longs for fjords, mountains, and a peaceful stay. Looking ahead, we hope to open a farm shop, a venue for gatherings and celebrations and many other exciting projects.

Feel free to follow us on our journey.
Welcome to Pergard!

About our animals

The farm cat “Kjell”

The farm cat has been an important part of farm life for generations. It is not only a friendly companion, but also a useful helper that keeps pests away from both the house and the barn.

Our orange boss is actually the son of our previous cat, Borghild, and he is born right here on this farm. He is incredibly sweet, energetic and loves to be around us humans! His favorite places are the neighbor's barn, the sheep shed , the thuja and the living room of our guesthouse. However, we promise to keep him away from the house if you don't want his company!

The Old Norwegian Wild Sheep

We have a small flock of wild sheep, currently consisting of 14 beautiful females. They are wonderful animals that are both useful and bring us so much joy. They graze and maintain the fields on the farm throughout the year and do the same in the mountains during the summer.

We have a name theme every year and we currently have two sheep from the year of the bird, three from the year of Henrik Ibsen, three from the year of Italian food, and six from this years spice theme.

The Chickens

We currently have six hens and two roosters of the Brahma breed.

Brahma chickens are known for their calm nature and their beautiful feathered legs, which make them stand out from other chickens. They are friendly, gentle birds that enjoy being around people and quickly become a natural part of life on the farm.

Our chickens love spending time outdoors, where they can walk around freely, eat fresh grass, and explore their surroundings. Their peaceful temperament and unique look make them charming and easy to care for and they give us a lot of joy. As a bonus, they also give us all the eggs we need!
